ANNVILLE, Pa.– The Middle Atlantic Conferences Office today released Academic All-MAC Honors for the 2018 Men's and Women's Cross Country Season. The award is intended to recognize students who excel in the classroom and on the field.
Megan Bernotas and
Kierra Zack represented Eastern on the team. The list is chosen from all 17 Middle Atlantic Conference member institutions. To be considered, runners had to earn at least a 3.2 GPA in the Fall Semester. All 13 honored runners earned either First or Second-Team All-MAC Honors at the MAC Championships.
Bernotas had a tremendous season on the course. The junior from Spring City, Pa. raced to a bronze medal at the Championships and earned All-Region honors with a 26th place finish at the Mideast Regional race. The Business Administration major had an outstanding semester in the classroom. She earned a 3.947 GPA this past fall. It is her first Academic All-MAC Honor.
Zack finished ninth at the MAC Championships and earned her fourth Academic All-MAC Honor. This was her third appearance on the Cross Country team, and she also earned recognition last winter for Indoor Track and Field. In 2017, she did not compete in cross country because of injury and missed the honor for that season. A nursing major with a nearly perfect GPA, Zack came through with a 4.0 this past fall while juggling classes, practices, and clinical rotations.
