ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Field Hockey dropped a non-league game to the visiting fifth-ranked Franklin and Marshall Diplomats. The Diplomats, who had not surrendered a goal all year scored three times in the first half and added four more in the second half for the final score.
The DIplomats (5-0) scored on a penalty corner in the eighth minute and added a second goal less than thirty seconds later. F & M had a 15-4 edge in first -half shots and a 36-10 advantage overall.
The Eagles had several chances to score, but solid defending and good goalie play by the guests kept Eastern off the board. F & M senior goalie Ilianna Santangelo picked up her 51st career win to move into the program lead in that category.
