GRANTHAM, Pa.– In a match that was much tighter than the final score, Eastern University Women's Tennis dropped a tough 9-0 decision at Messiah. The Eagles had to battle brutal weather conditions and a tough Messiah squad in a match that lasted until nearly dark.
The Eagles lost all three doubles matches in closely-contested matches.
Emma Paugh and
Lauren Good fell 8-4 in their test at first doubles. The pair lost two three-set matches in singles play. Paugh bounced back from dropping the first set 7-6 to win 6-2 in the second. She led early in the tiebreak before falling 10-8.
Good dropped her match 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.
The Eagles fell by identical 8-6 scores in both second and third doubles.
The tough test should prove to be valuable on Saturday when the Eagles (5-4) host the MAC Freedom-leading Wilkes University Colonels.
