Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Falls at Widener

CHESTER, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Lacrosse dropped a 24-11 decision at Widener University (3-6) in a rare morning game. Meghan Kosmides led the Eastern attack with five goals and nine draw controls.

The Eagles (2-4) led 3-1 early before the host Pride buried four consecutive goals to grab a 5-3 lead at the midpoint of the first half. Kosmides then scored twice in a 15 second span to tie the game, but the Pride scored six times in the final eleven minutes of the first half to grab control of the game. Marcie Spencer made nine of her 13 saves in the first half, but the Eagles were only successful on 6-of-12 clearing attempts and had 15 turnovers.

Jazzlyn Sullivan, Julie Haggan, and Liz Brennan each scored in the first half of the second half, but the Pride stretched the lead to 18-8 with seven goals in that same time-period.

Kosmides, who missed the first two games of the year and has been limited as she has returned to play, added two more goals and Sullivan added one more in the late going.

The Eagles will play at Stockton in their final non-league game on Wednesday before hosting Delaware Valley to begin MAC Freedom play on Saturday.
