Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men's Tennis Rolls Past Ravens

ROSEMONT, Pa.– On a day that was probably too cold to really enjoy playing tennis, Eastern University Men's Tennis rolled to an 8-1 win at Rosemont College. The Eagles swept through six singles matches and picked up wins in two-of-three doubles matches.

Ryan Hamilton and Karl Finkbeiner led the way a the top of the Eastern order. Hamilton, a junior, did not drop a game in his singles win, and the two teamed up to secure an 8-0 win at the first singles spot. Finkbeiner only dropped one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win at second singles.

Connor Mooney and Matt Cradduck won their doubles match by an 8-2 score. Mooney powered his way to a 6-1, 6-1 win at the third singles spot and Craduck did not drop a game at the fourth singles slot.

Thomas Lesher and James Blizzard stumbled to an 8-3 loss in doubles, but the duo rebounded to claim a pair of points in singles. Blizzard won 6-2, 6-2 at fifth singles and Lesher picked up his first collegiate win with a 6-1, 6-2 win at no. 6 singles.

"For how much time we have been off and on with the weather, I was pleased with how we played." Head Coach Mark Spangler said after the match. "Especially at the top of the order, we were pretty efficient and set up our points well. It was really cold, and the wind made it challenging, but the guys did a good job pushing through that to get the win."

"It was good to see Thomas and James bounce back after struggling in doubles," Spangler added. "It has been a tough spring to get any momentum, and I think it just took some time to get used to the wind and the cold and get back into it."

The Eagles are back in action on Monday with a home match against Neumann University.
