After seeing its home-opener stormed away, Eastern University Men's Basketball is back on the road this weekend. This road trip is considerably longer than the 800 yards it is between Eastern's gym and the Nearny Center at Cabrini. The Eagles will play at Maryville College in the Scots' season-opening classic. Maryville is just outside of Knoxville, Tenn.
Eastern will get the hosts in the opener tomorrow at 3:00 pm. The Scots, ranked No. 22 in the D3hoops.com 2018-19 preseason poll finished last year 22-7. They won the USA South Championship and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament.Â
In their run last year, Maryville averaged over 82 points per game but did not have a single player score more than 13 an outing. Randy Lambert, their head coach has 701 career wins and is starting his 39th and final season tomorrow.
On Sunday afternoon, the Eagles will take on Webster (2-0) at 1:00 pm. The Gorloks, who will play Emory and Henry in Saturday's opening game, were 13-12 last season, but they already have a significant win under their belts with a 72-64 win over local rival and UAA powerhouse Washington University.
The Eagles enter the weekend off a big win at Cabrini on Tuesday.
