Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Slow Start Costs Women's Basketball in Loss to King's

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Despite shooting only 5-of-25 from the floor in the first half, Eastern University Women's Basketball pulled to within a point early in the fourth quarter. The Eagles, however, were unable to grab the lead and fell to the visiting King's College Monarchs, 48-41. Taylor Price scored 12 of her game-high 19 points in the second half to lead the Eastern rally.

Neither team torched the nets in the first half, but the bigger Monarchs were able to get their inside game going to build a 22-15 edge at the break. Price had three of Eastern's five first-half field goals.

The Monarchs (7-5, 2-0 MAC Freedom) led 33-22 with just over two minutes to play in the third quarter before the Eagles closed out the period on a 9-0 run. Regie Robinson started the burst with a three-point play before leaving the game with injury. Undetered, the Eagles scored the next six points on long-range efforts from Amanda Riiff and Price.

After the Monarchs scored the opening basket of the fourth, Price delivered a nifty pass to Maya Harris for a layup to close the gap to 35-33. Harris then came up with a steal in the post at the other end and Price split a pair at the line to close the gap to a single point with eight minutes to play. The Eagles stayed within striking distance, but were not able to string together stops and scores to grab the lead.

Riiff scored ten points to join Price in double figures. Rebecca Prociak led King's with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Olivia Hoffman had eight points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and four blocks.

The Eagles (3-8, 0-2 MAC Freedom) will play at Misericordia on Wednesday.
