Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Falls in MAC Freedom Final

DALLAS, Pa.– Eastern University Men's Lacrosse saw its string of MAC Freedom titles end with a 6-1 loss at Misericordia this evening. The Eagles had won the first five MAC Freedom Championships. The top-seeded Cougars led 4-1 at halftime and added two fourth period goals for the final margin.

With a steady rain falling throughout the game, the match turned sloppy fairly quickly. The hosts handled the wet and slippery conditions better. The Eagles had 29 turnovers in the game, and the Cougars put the ball on the ground as well, but they won the ground ball battle for the game.

Misericordia scored twice in the first period and off the faceoff to start the second period. Even down three, it seemed that a comeback had to be just around the corner.

Eastern's lone offensive highlight came with under three minutes to go in the half. Tim Lamb found Sean Fechter for a man-up goal. The Eagles forced a turnover in the final minute of the half and seemed to have a fast break chance, but a turnover in transition turned into an odd-man situation for the Cougars, and they did not miss their chance, The goal came with 31 seconds left in the half.

"They put away their chances, and we did not," Head Coach Kevin Wallace said after the game. "We look at six goals against as a good number. We just had too many turnovers and never got into any kind of offensive rhythm."

The Eagles did not put a shot on goal in the third period. The Eastern defense fought through a pair of man-down chances to keep the game within reach, but the Cougars scored early in the fourth to build a four-goal cushion.

Jameal Hadeed made 12 saves in goal for the Eagles. Matt Beck stopped eight shots for Misericordia.

The one goal is the lowest total for Eastern Men's Lacrosse since an 8-1 loss against Ursinus in 2010.
