Men's Soccer Rallies Past Neumann

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Eastern University Men's Soccer fell behind early but battled back to claim an exciting 2-1 victory over visiting Neumann University on Wednesday afternoon. Jadon Ramsing and Cade Harmon scored second-half goals to lead the Eagles to their seventh win of the year.

Eastern (7-1-1) had the first opportunity to take the lead. In the 13th minute, Colin Furlong put a shot on goal. Neumann  goalkeeper Dan Jones made his first of three saves to keep the score level.

The Knights (2-7) grabbed the lead on their first shot of the match. After a good combination in the midfield, Jake McDevitt finished well in a 1-on-1 situation for the early lead.

Jadon Ramsing had a header whistle just wide of the mark on a restart in the 37th minute. Neumann held for the remainder of the half and took the 1-0 lead into the break.

Ramsing had another opportunity to pull the Eagles even in the 50th minute, but his header was denied by Jones. The game changed in the 57th minute. Jake Sankey beat his defender into the box and was fouled. Ramsing converted the penalty kick to tie the match. The goal is Ramsing's  fourth this year.

JD Saracco had a chance to give Eastern the lead inthe 79th minute, but Jones was up to the task. Seconds late, Harmon netted the game-winner off a Billy Walenda serve. Harmon has a team-best six goals this fall.

Quentin Keibler and the defense kept the Knights off the scoreboard the rest of the way. In the 82nd minute, Neumann fired a shot that was blocked by the defense and then in the 87th minute Keibler denied another attempt on net to preserve the victory.

Eastern took nine shots in the match and put five on net. Neumann took seven shots. The Knights held the edge in corner kicks 6-4.

The Eagles open MAC Freedom play at home against Manhattanville on Saturday Oct. 1.
