GALLOWAY, N.J. - Eastern Men's Lacrosse edged Stockton University on Wednesday night, 10-7. The Eagles used a five-goal fourth quarter to erase a two-goal deficit and snap the Ospreys five-game winning streak.
Eastern (5-4) jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the first quarter thanks in large part
Jake Billera who scored twice. Billera got the Eagles on the board with just over seven minutes into the game. Stockton (7-2) tied up the game just under a minute later before Billera gave Eastern the lead again with a minute left in the quarter.Â
Two goals by the Ospreys in the second quarter left the game tied 3-3 at the break. Stockton tied the game up at 2-2 less than a minute into the second quarter.
Mark Buannic gave the lead back to the Eagles when he tallied a man-up goal with just over two minutes to go before halftime. The Ospreys scored less than 30 seconds later to the tie the game for the third time.
Buannic netted his second goal of the game to give Eastern a 4-3 advantage early in the third quarter. Stockton then scored three straight goals to take their first lead of the game, 6-4. Billera responded with his third of the game with just over a minute left in the third quarter to pull the Eagles within one at 6-5.Â
Desmond Decker tallied back-to-back goals start the fourth quarter to tie the game and then give Eastern its fifth lead of the game at 7-6. After Stockton tied the game less than two minutes the Billera gave the Eagles the lead, 8-7, for good when he scored his fourth goal of the game. Â Â
Tim Lamb sealed the game scoring back-to-back goals less than three minutes apart to make the score final at 10-7.Â
Overall the game had six ties and seven lead changes. Eastern took 39 shot placing 19 of them on net. The Eagles also picked up 23 groundballs and were 17-19 on clear attempts.
Four Eastern players tallied multiple goals with Billera scoring a team-high four. Decker, Buannic, and Lamb each tallied two goals apiece.
Jameal Hadeed made eight saves and picked up three groundballs.Â
Eastern hosts Ursinus College on April 6th at 4 pm.
