Men's Soccer at Misericordia for MAC Freedom Final

Eastern University Men's Soccer will play at Misericordia University at 7:00 pm on Saturday. Eastern won the regular-season meeting, 1-0, in Dallas on Oct. 11. This is the first time the two schools have played in the post-season since 2011 and the sixth time the two schools have met in the post-season in the last 20 years.

The History:
2011: Misericordia's Chris Panagacos scored in the 38th minute to lift the Cougars to a 1-0 win in the MAC Freedom Championship match.
2008: After a scoreless regulation and overtime, Misericordia emerged with a win in the MAC Freedom Semifinals.
2007: Aaron Tritch scored in the 89th minute to lift Eastern Men's Soccer to a third PAC Championship in a five year stretch.
2002: Neither team scored a goal through regulation and overtime. Misericordia advanced out of the PAC Semifinals on Penalty kicks.
1999: Misericordia won 1-0 in the PAC Semifinals
1997: Misericordia won the PAC Championship 2-1 in overtime after Eastern had fallen in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Teams:
Misericordia (12-5-2, 6-1 MAC Freedom)

The Cougars' lone loss in the MAC Freedom came to Eastern on Oct. 11. Including their 3-0 home win over DeSales in the MAC Freedom Semifianls, the veteran squad has outscored league opponents by a 20-3 margin this season.

Eleven players have scored multiple goals for the Cougars. Senior midfielder Chris Edkins leads Misericordia with four goals and three assists. The Cougars had seven players named to the MAC Freedom All-Conference teams today. Four of the seven honorees are seniors, and two more are juniors. Levi Roberts was named Rookie of the Year, and Head Coach Andy Loughnane was chosen as Coach of the Year.

The Cougars have a win over Rutgers-Camden and a tie with Messiah.

Eastern(14-3-2, 5-2 MAC Freedom)

Eastern needed results in the final three MAC Freedom matches to assure a spot in the post-season. All five of Eastern's league wins this fall came by shutout. Eastern claimed 1-0 wins over all three MAC Freedom playoff teams.

Led by MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Year Cade Harmon's 10 goals, the Eagles have ten players with multiple goals this fall. Jake Sankey and Jadon Ramsing each have five goals and Jacob Myers and JD Saracco scored four times each.

League Coaches honored ten Eastern players with All-Conference recognition.
 

What is at Stake?

The Eagles look to earn back-to-back conference championships for the first time in program history. Misericordia is looking for a fifth MAC Freedom Title. The winner of the match will secure the MAC Freedom's Automatic Qualifying bid into the NCAA Tournament.
