Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Tops Del Val for Homecoming Win

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Cade Harmon scored twice and added an assist as Eastern University Men's Soccer (9-2-1, 1-1 MAC Freedom) picked up a convincing 3-0 win over the visiting Delaware Valley University Aggies at a rain-soaked Olson Field. The Eagles scored twice in a ninety-second span in the first half to grab control of the game.

Sophomore midfielder Colin Furlong scored the opening goal of the match on a short corner play. Harmon put the ball in play, and Furlong curled a low cross in through traffic toward the back post. The Aggie goalkeeper had to freeze to prepare for a redirection. That redirection never happened, and Furlong's cross slipped inside the post for his first goal of the season.

Harmon doubled the lead as he found space behind the Aggie back row, took a pass from Sean Dougherty, and slipped a finish under the onrushing Aggie goalkeeper. The Eagles fired another five shots over the next half hour, but the score remained 2-0 at halftime. Vanji Moise had the best of those chances in the 43rd minute, but his shot caromed off the post.

The Eagles held a 17-2 advantage in shots through the first 45 minutes of the match. Connor Hedgepath made six first-half saves to keep the Aggies (5-6-1, 0-2 MAC Freedom) within range at the half.

Harmon closed out the scoring with his team-best eighth of the year of a pass from Furlong.

The Eastern staff had been working with their squad through the week on making solid possession choices. That work paid off as the Eagles had the majority of the possession in the match and were able to convert that into a decided advantage in quality scoring chances.

Quentin Keibler played the opening 66 minutes in goal before giving way to Jamie Stratton in relief. Stratton made the lone Eastern save of the afternoon

The Eagles have a short recovery window before returning to play in the MAC Freedom. They will play at Misericordia on Tuesday evening.
