Men's Soccer to Host King's in MAC Freedom Semi

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– With a 1-0 win over DeSales on Saturday, Eastern University Men's Soccer (14-3-1, 5-2 MAC Freedom) earned a spot in the MAC Freedom Tournament. When the King's College Monarchs beat FDU-Florham 4-0 later that evening, the Eastern men learned that they would be starting the tournament at home.

Eastern, the number two seed, will host King's (9-8-1, 4-3 MAC Freedom) in a 2:00 pm Semifinal on Olson Field. Because it is a MAC Championship event, admission will be charged. Tickets will be $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $2 for students. Eastern University Student development will pay for current Eastern University Students with a valid E-Card.

Like Eastern, King's entered the final weekend needing a result. Unlike Eastern, the Monarchs knew they needed a win against an FDU side that only needed to tie to advance. King's scored in the fourth minute and again in the 44th to forge a 2-0 halftime lead. Senior midfielder Keegan Fees had the assist on the second goal and then knocked home his first two goals of the season to stretch the final margin to 4-0.

King's finished in a four-way tie for third place with DeSales, Manhattanville, and FDU-Florham. DeSales and King's were both 2-1 in the matches between those four teams, so FDU-Florham and Manhattanville, the two league teams with wins over Eastern this fall, were eliminated. King's became the third seed by their 1-0 win at DeSales on October 8th.

DeSales (9-8-2, 4-3 MAC Freedom) will play at top-seeded Misericordia (11-5-2, 6-1 MAC Freedom)at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.

The losing team has not scored a goal in any of the six matches involving the four teams in the MAC Freedom Tournament, five of them ended 1-0.

Tuesday's winners will advance to Saturday's MAC Freedom Championship match with a chance to earn a spot in the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
