Women's Soccer Falls at Misericordia

DALLAS, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Soccer dropped a 6-0 decision at Misericordia University on Wednesday evening. The host Cougars scored three goals in a nine minute stretch to put the game away in the second half.

Through the first half, the Cougars (10-3, 3-0 MAC Freedom) owned a decided advantage in shots and corners, but the Eagles (7-7, 2-1 MAC Freedom) were able to find offensive opportunity in spurts. Misericordia scored the first goal on a corner kick in the 31st minute.

Adrianna Rowlands made seven first-half saves, and the Eagles kept the game within reach at the half.

"Through he first half, " Head Coach Dan Mouw said, "we did a pretty good job of keeping them to the outside, and Adrianna played well, but we got stuck on one side and did not fully recognize or take advantage of when we had broken their pressure."

The game turned on a Misericordia corner kick goal in the 52nd minute. The Cougars grabbed the momentum and converted chances to stretch the lead to 4-0 with two goals in the 59th minute. They would score twice more in the final half hour of the match.

"Tonight was not our night," Mouw concluded. "They are a good team. Good teams take advantage of mistakes. We do not have time be miserable. We have to get better for Saturday. I am confident that we will get stronger from this."

The Eagles will play at FDU-Florham on Saturday at 2 pm.
