Men's Soccer Blows Past Centenary

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.- Eastern University Men's Soccer (6-0-1) kept its unbeaten streak alive with a convincing 3-0 home win over Centenary College this afternoon. Quentin Keibler made two saves in goal to preserve the Eagles' third straight shutout and fifth clean sheet on the year.

The Eagles had a ten to one edge in corner kicks in the game. That advantage paid dividends in the 22nd minute when Jadon Ramsing headed home his second goal of the week off a serve from Josh Cirocco.

The Eagles had been working through the week to be more precise on set pieces. That precision paid dividends in the 41st minute when Jereme Wells curled a restart to the back post into the path of Billy Walenda. Walenda launched himself toward the ball and converted a diving header for his second goal of the season and to give the Eagles a commanding two-goal edge at the break. Eastern took 14-3 edge in shots in the opening frame and a 7-1 advantage in corners.

"I was very pleased with the play of our back line," head coach Mark Wagner stated. "We limited their chances and did a nice job starting our attack." Wagner was also pleased with the production and energy brought to the game off the bench.  Eastern played 27 players in the match.

Jacob Myers, who filled in for an injured Hunter Rosenberg in the midfield, scored his first goal of the year in the 57th minute. He cleaned up a rebound of a Josh Cirocco shot.

The Eagles have outscored opponents 13-3 in the opening seven matches of the year. Nine different players have scored goals in that run.

The Eagles, who are ranked 4th in the latest NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region Poll, face a tough test on Wednesday at Salisbury University.
