DOYLESTOWN, Pa.—Eastern University Women's Lacrosse dashed out to a 7-0 lead at Delaware Valley University and never looked back. The Eastern Eagles captured their second Freedom Conference win of the season with Wednesday night's 16-3 result.
Freshman Julie Haggan scored a game-high five times to bump her season total to 33 goals. Her goal total is second only to sophomore Anna Charlebois who scored four times and has 46 tallies on the year. Charlebois led the Eagles with six draw controls and seven ground balls.
Stephanie Hogan and Jenn McKelvie each recorded hat tricks, and Nicole Martin scored her first goal of her career.
Hogan scored the Eagles' first two goals and then assisted Charlebois and Haggan all within the first 10 minutes of action. Hogan completed her hat trick with a free-position shot with 13:07 left in the first half and put Eastern ahead 7-0.
Del Val interrupted Eastern's scoring spree with 12:37 to go in the first, but five minutes later Eastern started a run of four consecutive goals reaching into the second half. The Eagles planted five more goals on the Aggies in the final 16 minutes to bury them.
In goal for Eastern, Cortney Andes recorded six saves and Alina Odjemski had three. The three goals allowed is the best showing defensively by the Eagles this season.
The Aggies, a first-year women's lacrosse program, dropped to 2-9 overall and 0-4 in Freedom play. Eastern improved to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in conference.
