ST. DAVIDS, Pa.—Eastern University Men's Lacrosse improved to 4-0 in Freedom Conference play after hammering Delaware Valley University 20-2 on Wednesday. The Eagles have clinched a spot in the Freedom Conference postseason and are currently tied for first with FDU-Florham.
Eastern overwhelmed the first-year Delaware Valley program with 17 shots in the first quarter while only allow three Aggies' shots. By the end of the first quarter, the Eagles had the game well in hand with a 7-0 lead. The Eagles went on to score four goals in the second, five in the third and four more in the fourth.
Delaware Valley's Nick DiMinno scored both of the team's goals, once in the third and fourth quarters.
Eastern David Darling and Eric Waibel each recorded a hat trick. Darling dished out four assists for a seven-point day. Grant Ferguson added two goals and 12 other players record a goal each. Mark Orebiyi, Michael G. Pitts and David Hipp scored their first collegiate goals.
Eastern's defense remained stingy against Freedom foes.The Eagles have only allowed 13 Freedom Conference goals through five games.
Nick DiPiano made six saves in a first half shutout. Jameal Hadeed saved three shots in the third, and Austin Mutter recorded four saves in the fourth.
The Eagles play their last two regular season games on the road—at DeSales on Saturday and then at FDU-Florham on Tuesday. They'll return to St. Davids for the Freedom Conference Semifinals on April 29.
