CHESTER, Pa.--Eastern University Women's Lacrosse fell 14-9 at Widener University on Saturday.
Stephanie Hogan led the Eagles with three goals. Anna Charlebois, Jenn McKelvie and Julie Haggan each netted two goals.
Hogan netted the first goal of the game less than four minutes in. After Widener answered with a goal 90 seconds later, McKelvie responded to put Eastern ahead 2-1 with 21:07 left in the half. Back-to-back goals gave the Pride the lead.
Charlebois scored the next two Eastern goals tying the game at 3-3 and then at 4-4.
Widener, however, broke the game wide open with six straight goals, including a player-down goal 1:28 before halftime. The Eagles recovered partially with a 4-0 run bookended by Haggan goals. Eastern trailed by two, 10-8 with under eight minutes to go. Widener ended Eastern's comeback plans with three consecutive goals.
Eastern will now look for its first win of the season in Hilton Head, S.C. The Eagles play Walsh on Monday and SUNY Potsdam on Wednesday.
