Women's Basketball Outlasts Aggies

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – Eastern University Women's Basketball stayed perfect in the MAC Freedom with a 68-58 home win over Delaware Valley University. Reggie Robinson and Taylor Price combined to score 44 points to lead the Eagles to their sixth win of the year.

The Eagles(6-1, 2-0 MAC Freedom) used a 16-0 run to build a 20-5 lead with two minutes to play in the first quarter. Price, Robinson and Emily Lavin combined to score nine points during that stretch.

The Aggies (1-6, 0-2 MAC Freedom) cut the deficit to eight at 22-14, but Price and Robinson combined on a 10-0 scoring run to extend the Eastern lead to 32-14 with just over four minutes left in the first half.

"They really put up 44 points? That's awesome," said Head Coach Eric Houston with a smile. "We already knew what we were getting with Reggie when we recruited her as far as her offensive threat. She does great work defensively on the ball and on the glass as well." Robinson finished with 23 points and ten rebounds. The freshman standout is averaging 18 points and ten rebounds a game. She has had four straight double-doubles.

"Taylor Price. I can't say enough about this kid," continued Houston. "She comes in day after day to work on her game. I am not surprised by her performance night-in and night-out. She goes out there and gives it one hundred percent."

The Eastern offense struggled in the thrid quarter and the Aggies trimmed a 13 point halftime deficit to five at the end of the third period.

Delaware Valley closed the gap to 56-53 midway throught he fourth period. Amanda Riiff delivered a big 3-pointer to change the momentum of the game.  Price and Robinson scored six of Eastern's final eleven points in the game to keep the Eagles unbeaten in the MAC Freedom.

"I just wanted to get a basket and a hold, but Riiff did an outstanding job justing finding a way to get that shot up and make it," continued Houston. "I am just happy to come out with the win, it was a tough but I am glad we got it done."

Robinson scored her 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Price has scored in double-figures in all seven games this year. The sophomore guard netted a season-high 21 points. She made 9-of-10foul shots. Lavin scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to tally her fifth double-double this season.

Kelsey Kilpatrick led all Aggie scorers with 20 points.  She made  6-of-12 from 3-point range. Eireann Anastasi added 15 points.

Eastern will travel to Scranton to play in the Hilton Scranton Poinsettia Classic on December 15-16.
