WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – No. 14 Eastern Women's Volleyball defeated Wilkes University 3-0. The Eagles remain unbeaten in MAC Freedom play since joining the league in 2008.
Eastern (21-6; 6-0 MAC Freedom) controlled the play from start to finish in the opening set. The Eagles tallied 17 kills on 34 attacks to take the opening set 25-16. The Eastern defense held Wilkes to just seven kills and a hitting percentage of .133.
In the second set, the Eagles hit .350 and cruised to a 25-11 win. Wilkes (12-18; 1-5 MAC Freedom) held a 21-18 lead late in the third set before Eastern scored seven of the next eight points to seal the third set 25-22.
As a team Eastern hit .315, tallied 41 kills, and committed only 13 errors.
Rylie Haas led the team with 14 digs. Eight different Eastern players recorded kills in the match.
Stephanie Elechko led the Eastern attack with nine kills.
Eastern will host the Eastern Quad-Match this weekend. The Eagles will play Susquehanna University Friday night at 7PM. The Eagles will conclude the MAC Freedom regular season against Misericordia next Wednesday.
