HUNTINGDON, Pa.--Eastern University Men's Basketball fell on the road on Saturday against the Juniata College Eagles, 87-54.
The Eastern Eagles' scoring was evenly spread with 10 different players getting on the board; however, for the first time this year, no Eastern player reached double figures. Anthony Concepcion and Shaquan Turk both scored nine points to lead Eastern. Concepcion shot 3-for-4 from the 3-point line, his only attempts of the game. Turk went 3-for-12 from the floor with three free throws and grabbed seven rebounds, a team-high.
Tarek Hamzeh added eight points, hitting two 3-pointers and two free throws.
Eastern kept its turnovers low, committing 12, and forced an equal amount of Juniata turnovers.
Juniata, which sports a much taller roster overall with only two players shorter than six-foot (those players are 5-foot-10), dominated on the boards, outrebounding Eastern 44-28. Eastern shot just 32.1 percent from the floor while Juniata knocked down 54.1 percent of its field goal attempts.
The game started strong for Eastern who didn't trail for the first 15 minutes of the game. Anthony Parenti's two free throws with 11:28 remaining in the first half gave Eastern its largest lead of the game, 16-8.
Juniata closed the gap, but Eastern regained the lead with a layup by Austin Carroll with 5:39 to go in the first half. After that basket, however, Juniata sprung to a 10-0 run. Down by double-digits by the end of the half, Eastern was unable to recover.
Eastern dropped to 4-9 with the setback. Juniata evened out to 7-7.
On Wednesday, Eastern will be back in conference play. They'll travel to FDU-Florham for an 8 p.m. game. Last season, Eastern and FDU split their matchups with Eastern winning on the road with a last-second layup by Anthony Parenti.
