Volleyball Sweeps Sea Gulls

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.—Eastern University Volleyball defended its home court Friday night, clipping the Salisbury University Sea Gulls in three sets, 25-18, 25-15, 25-19.

The Eagles improved to 15-4 with the win and bumped the Sea Gulls down to 12-5.

For the seventh time this season, the Eagles kept their opponent below .100 hitting. Eastern held the Sea Gulls to a .060 attack percentage for the match. The Eagles, on the other hand, hit .257 for the match.

Four Eagles had seven kills or more. Lauren Sproles tallied seven, Stephanie Elechko eight, Erin Hillman nine and Katrina Pisch a game-high 10 kills. Pisch hit .391 for the match and had one solo block and four block assists. The Eagles recorded nine total team blocks, their highest total this season.

Salisbury's Katie Stouffer notched a team-high nine kills.

In the first two sets, the Sea Gulls only lead came at 2-1 in the first set. The Eagles had the lead up until early in the third set. The Eagles trailed by as many as three points in the third set but tied the game at 18-18 with a big block by Pisch and freshman Morgan Shemonski on the right side. Pisch then picked up a kill on the slide to give Eastern the lead for good. A block by Pisch and Sproles ended the match at 25-19.

The Eagles continue to host the quad-match on Saturday. They start the day with Widener at 10 a.m. and then Haverford at 4 p.m.
