MADISON, N.J.—Eastern Women's Lacrosse stumbled in a match with the FDU-Florham Devils on Saturday. The Eagles scored in the game's first minute, but ultimately fell 17-3.
The Devils, last season's Freedom Conference Champions, improved to 4-8 with the win while Eastern dropped to 4-6. Both teams are 1-1 in the Freedom Conference.
The Eagles jumped ahead of the Devils 50 seconds into the game when Anna Charlebois netted her 18th goal of the season. However, the Devils rattled off five straight goals over the next nine minutes. Eastern's Shannon Wilcox cut into that lead with 15:02 to play after Charlebois picked up a ground ball, made the clear and found Wilcox open for the shot.
After FDU-Florham tallied three more goals, Eastern's Angalena Malavenda hit a free-position shot with a minute left before halftime to make it an 8-3 game.
The second half belonged to the Devils as they scored nine unanswered goals in the second half. Devils' Courtney Rendinaro and Joelle Manganella scored a game-high four goals apiece.
Eastern hosts Arcadia University on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in another Freedom Conference battle.
