WILKES-BARRE, Pa.--Eastern Women's Lacrosse had its season come to an end on Saturday after a 20-11 road loss against the Wilkes University Colonels.
The Eagles were vying for the final playoff spot with the Colonels in a "win-and-you're-in" game, but with the loss, the Eagles will miss out on the playoffs.
An influx of young talent rejuvenated the Eagles in the 2014 campaign, leading them to a 6-10 record after going 1-14 in 2013.
On Saturday, the Eagles, who have no seniors on their team, were led in scoring by junior Shannon Wilcox's four goals.
Jacquelyn Janda scored twice while Moriah Bourk, Caleigh Falco, Angalena Malavenda and Anna Charlebois each scored once. Bourk's goal, coming with 4:52 to play in the first half, was her first as an Eagle.
Charlebois, a freshman, led the Eagles in scoring this season, netting 35 goals on 63 shots on goal.
Eastern will look to build upon its improvements and core of talented young players when next season comes around.
