The Eagles capitalized early, scoring 1:02 into the game with a goal from Andrew Travers. Eastern rattled off four straight goals before Ferrum took to the scoreboard with 3:51 to play in the first.

Grant Ferguson scored his second goal of the game with 35 seconds left in the quarter, putting Eastern up 5-1. Over the entirety of the second quarter and 11 minutes of the third quarter, Ferrum went on a 5-2 scoring run. With 2:22 to play in the third quarter, Eastern's lead was down to 7-6.

The Eagles responded with four straight goals to close out the third and open the fourth quarter and then put up another four-goal stretch in the middle of the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

Eastern has its home opener on Friday at 3:30 p.m. against Colorado College.
