SWARTHMORE, Pa.--Eastern Women's Lacrosse was overpowered by the Swarthmore College Garnet on Saturday afternoon 17-4.
Sara Blaylock scored twice in the loss. Stephanie Hogan and Angalena Malavenda each scored as well.
Swarthmore's Lizzie Kolln scored a game-high five goals.
Swarthmore won 16-of-23 draw controls which helped them control possession and earn more shooting attempts than Eastern. The Garnet out-shot the Eagles 34-16.
Blaylock put the Eagles ahead 1-0 with 28:35 to play in the first half. Kelsie Andrews dished out the assist. The Garnet equalized the score with a free-position shot less than two minutes later.
The Garnet scored two more goals before Malavenda buried a free-position shot with 19:37 left.
After another pair of goals from Swarthmore, Blaylock hit her second goal of the game on a free-position shot with 12:02 remaining in the half bringing Eastern within two, 5-3.
However, Swarthmore pulled away to a comfortable lead by scoring five consecutive goals.
Eastern's Stephanie Hogan netted a free-position shot to close out the half with Eastern down 10-4. But for the second game in a row, the Eagles were shut out in the second half and the Garnet went on to score seven unanswered goals.
The Eagles (1-2) travel to Texas for Spring Break where they will play Southwestern University.
