ST. DAVIDS, Pa.—Eastern Men's Basketball jumped back to .500 with a 74-58 win over the PSU-Brandywine Lions on Tuesday night.
Sophomore guard Malcolm Garrison helped tame the Lions with a game-high 19 points. Garrison kept getting good looks from the left wing and shot 5-of-8 from 3-point range. He took one shot inside the arc and sank that one too to finish 6-for-9 overall. Garrison also swiped four steals and blocked two shots.
Freshman Shaquan Turk made his first collegiate start and finished with 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting, blocked two shots and grabbed five rebounds.
Caleb Knudsen collected his second double-double of the season with an even 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Eagles' point guard Austin Carroll created scoring opportunities with a season high eight assists. He also scored seven points and collected four rebounds.
Tuesday's game remained close through the first 15 minutes. Brandywine's James Fisher buried a 3-pointer with 4:39 to go in the first half to bring Brandywine within four points of the Eagles. The Eagles then scored seven straight points to go up by 11 points. The Eagles entered halftime up 11 and maintained a double-digit lead the remainder of the game. Eastern led by as much as 21 points in the second half.
The Eagles forced 18 turnovers while committing 13. The rebound battle also belonged to the Eagles. Eastern out-rebounded Brandywine 44-37.
On Saturday, the Eagles finish non-conference play at Bryn Athyn College in a 7 p.m. game.
