NEWPORT NEWS, Pa.--Eastern Volleyball started off the CNU Invitational with a 3-0 win over the University of Scranton Royals Friday afternoon.
The Eagles, ranked No. 15 nationally, took care of the Royals 25-15, 25-18, 25-9.
Eastern hit .211 as a team and held Scranton to a below-zero hitting percentage. The Royals hit -.024, with 17 kills and 19 errors on 85 attacks. Surprisingly, both teams hit below zero in the second set.
Katrina Pisch led the Eagles with nine kills and hit .571 for the match. Pisch's hitting percentage took a hit against DeSales on Tuesday, but is back up to .482 with Friday's strong performance.
The Eagles served seven aces in the win. Amy Guarino had three, and Shannon Phillips and Stephanie Elechko each added two.
Kearby Benak and Rylie Haas led Eastern's defensive effort. Benak contributed 13 digs and Haas 11.
The Eagles face two nationally ranked opponents tomorrow. They face No. 17 Wisconsin Whitewater at 2 p.m. and No. 19 Christopher Newport at 4:30 p.m. The 4:30 p.m. game will be streamed live. Watch Live
