ST. DAVIDS, Pa.- Eastern University Women's Lacrosse fell behind 8-0
in the first thirteen minutes and was unable to recover in a 22-11 home
loss to the College of Florham Devils. Victoria Graham scored six times
and added an assist to lead the Eastern attack.
The Devils (7-7,
3-0 Freedom) remained atop the Freedom Conference standings with today's
win. The two teams met in last year's Freedom Conference Championship
match, but the Eagles have had a tough year and were officially
eliminated from post-season play with the loss this afternoon.
FDU
built the big lead early before Shannon Wilcox scored her first of the
day on a shot from just off the crease to the upper right corner of the
goal. The Devils, however, answered with two goals before Graham buried
her first of the day with 14 minutes to play. Graham scored twice more
in the first half and Sara Blaylock scored on a nice feed from Julia
Furniss.
FDU scored four times in the final minute and 34 seconds of the half to take a 16-5 lead at the break.
With
the Devils looking to hold for possession, both teams scored six times
in the second half. Katie Rolwood scored six goals to lead FDU. Sara
Slicklen had five goals and three other players had three tallies.
The Devils enjoyed a 24-9 advantage in draw controls for the game. The visitor's edge at intermission was 15-5 in that critical possession category.
Cortney Andes finished with 16 saves for the Eagles.
Easten returns to action for the final home game of the spring against Misericordia on Saturday afternoon.
