The host Monarchs made 60 percent of their first half shots and held the
Eagles to a meager 29.6 percent in building a 42-21 lead at
intermission. Tyler McGrath scored eight of his team-high 12 points
before the break. McGrath was 4-of-5 from the floor, while the rest of
the Eastern team was only 4-of-22 in the first 20 minutes.
The Monarchs (9-11, 4-5 Freedom) built their edge to 25 with 15 minutes
to play and were able to keep the Eagles from seriously challenging the
rest of the way. The Eagles made only 6-of-24 field goals in the second
half. In contrast, the Monarchs made 6-of-8 3-pointers.
Eastern beat King's 70-67 in the first meeting of the year between the
two teams. Senior guard Matt Fiorino made 5-of-9 3-pointers to lead
King's with 16 points. Kyle Hammonds also had 16 for the Monarchs.
The Eagles (5-15, 3-6 Freedom) host Delaware Valley College on Saturday
as part of Eastern's Season of Impact, the gate from the game will be
donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.
