HUNTINGDON, Pa.--Eastern Men's Basketball ended a six-game skid by defeating the Valley Forge Christian College Patriots 68-54 Saturday afternoon.
With the Juniata Invitational consolation game victory, the Eagles improve to 2-7. The Patriots drop to 7-4 this season.
Eastern sophomore Anthony Parenti led the Eagles with 17 points. Teammates Kyle Malloy and Anthony Bertolino added 14 and 11 points, respectively. Anthony Bertolino was named to the all-tournament team.
After shooting 33 percent the night before, the Eagles bounced back with a 52.5 percent shooting performance on Saturday. The Eagles also drastically improved at the charity stripe, hitting 20-of-23 free throws.
The Eagles took the lead at 18-16 with 8:30 remaining in the first half on a jump shot by Ben Connor and clung to a two-point at halftime.
The Patriots scored five quick points at the start of the second half, but the Eagles went on a 14-0 run sparked by an and-one layup by Kyle Malloy. The Patriots ended their 5:14 scoring drought with a layup by Kevin Mack at 14:03. The Patriots came within six points a minute later, but the Eagles were able to hold off their advance and win by double-digits.
Mack scored a game-high 24 points in the losing effort.
Eastern plays at Haverford College Dec. 15, at 3 p.m.
