HAVERFORD, Pa.- Eastern University Men's Basketball trailed by only
six points at halftime at Haverford College, but the host Fords scored
31 of the first 40 points in the second half to break open the game.
Haverford (4-5) held on for a 76-59 non-league win.
Though the
host Fords led throughout, the game remained within reach for the Eagles
for the first half. The Eagles, who had limited practice time this past
week with final exams, carved into a 12 point lead late in the period
and went to the locker room trailing 33-27.
The first ten minutes
of the second half did not go well for the Eagles. Haverford rode solid
shooting and steady defense to a 64-36 lead a the midpoint of the second
half.
The Eagles shot just 3-of-14 from behind the arc for the
game. Anthony Bertolino finished with a team-best 14 points, and senior
guard Tyler Stowers had 10. Brett Cohen finished with 23 points and 15
rebounds to pace the Fords.
Eastern (2-8) returns to action on Wednesday at Ursinus.
