ST. DAVIDS, Pa.--Eastern Men's Basketball challenged its first conference opponent on Wednesday night, losing at home to the Manhattanville College Valiants, 87-72.
Eastern's Tyler Stowers finished with a team-high 12 points and Malcolm Garrison added 10 points. Twelve different Eagles scored in the loss.
Manhattanville's Colin Campbell and Jack Bramswig each scored 21 points, a game-high. Bramswig pulled down 12 boards for the double-double and demonstrated his aerial abilities with four blocks and three dunks. Valiant's point guard Anthony Maestre added 17 points, making 3-of-4 3-pointers. The Valiants connected on 7-of-10 3-pointers and shot 55.6 percent from the floor overall.
Eastern finished shooting 41 percent from the field and 58.6 percent from the free throw line.
Eastern did cut their turnover number to 15, below their season average, and forced 22 Manhattanville turnovers. However, Manhattanville out-rebounded Eastern 43-31.
Eastern trailed 13-33 with 6:12 remaining in the first half, but held the Valiants to four points over the final six minutes and cut the deficit to 28-37 at halftime.
With 18:06 in the second half, Eastern came within eight points on an Anthony Parenti 3-pointer. The Valiants regained a double-digit lead on a 3-point play by Colin Campbell 16 seconds later and kept a double-digit lead the remainder of the game.
Eastern (1-4, 0-1 Freedom) plays at Delaware Valley College on Dec. 1, at 3 p.m.
