ST. DAVIDS, Pa.--Eastern University Field Hockey dropped to 3-4 on the year with a 3-4 loss at home Tuesday against Swarthmore College.

Swarthmore's Aarti Rao netted the game-winner in the 83rd minute from the right side. The Swarthmore Garnet improved to 3-4 with the win.

Eastern pressured Swarthmore's defense all game, smacking 24 shots, 11 more than Swarthmore.

The Eagles also earned twice as many penalty corners, 14 to seven.

For the second game in a row the Eagles scored in the second minute of the game, when Yvonne Herbster cut her way through the Garnet defense and scored an unassisted goal, her third this season. However, Swarthmore responded with two goals to close out the half.

Down by one, Eastern coach Camrin Azzarano placed freshman Sarah Blaylock in as goalkeeper. Forward Brittany Moyer scored her third goal of the season four minutes into the half when she snaked through the defense and fired a shot from the right side. Swarthmore tacked on another goal in the 44th minute to tie the game, but  the Eagles snatched the lead on a goal by Kelby Bolton. Bolton's score in the 52nd minute was her second on the season.

The score stayed knotted at three for the next 17 minutes despite seven more tries by the Eagles. With five minutes remaining in regulation, Azzarano swapped goalkeepers again, replacing Blaylock with the more experienced Suetterlein.

Two minutes into the seven-on-seven overtime, Herbster came close to ending the game in Eastern's favor, but her shot caromed harmlessly off the goal post.

The Eagles have little time to recover from this loss as they play Rowan University at home Thursday at 4:00
