ST. DAVIDS, Pa.--The Eastern University volleyball team returned to St. Davids to win its home-opener against conference-opponent Delaware Valley College Wednesday.
The Eagles defeated the Aggies in three sets 25-10, 25-14, 25-16.
Senior setter Maria Horning continued to facilitate the team's offense with incredible efficiency. She recorded 35 assists.
Courtney Reinhold was nearly automatic on her attacks, converting 12 kills on 16 attempts with no errors. Lauren Sproles posted an impressive hitting percentage as well (.692), going nine for 13 on total attacks.
Kearby Benak led the Eagles in digs with 12 and in service aces with four. The Eagles' servers scored 12 aces in the match, 11 more than Delaware Valley.
As a team, the Eagles finished with a .421 hitting percentage.
After last weekend's loss to No. 4 Emory, the Eagles retained their No. 5 ranking. They host a tri-match Saturday against Franklin & Marshall College and Moravian College.
