Women's Lacrosse Tops Cougars

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.- Eastern University Women's Lacrosse rallied from a tough home loss on Tuesday with a convincing 17-6 home win over Misericordia University. Christy Hild scored six times and Grace Griffith added four goals and two assists to lead the Eastern attack.

The Eagles scored a pair of early goals, but the Cougars tied the game with a pair of unassisted tallies from Krista Shenk and Camila Hansen. Hild then sparked a run of five straight Eastern goal with a heads up play on a loose ball in front of the cage. Kendall Rood scored before and after a pair from Griffith to put the Eagles up 7-2.

Hansen scored her second of the day to pull the Cougars to within four, but the Eagles scored twice in the final twenty seconds of the half to extend the lead back to six. Hild scored the first in transition, and then Griffith tallied after Katie Blaylock made a strong play on the draw and found Griffith on the run in front of the cage.

Hild scored the first three goals of the second half to increase the Eastern lead to nine and put the game out of reach. Hild now has 50 points in her first season as an Eagle. Kendall Rood finished with three goals and two assists. Allie Fultz, Brittany Keith, Amelia McNamara, and Allie Gauthier each scored single goals.

Lindsey Corbitt made three saves to earn the win. The Eagles return to action with a critical MAC contest at Alvernia on Tuesday.
