ST. DAVIDS, Pa.- Eastern University Women's Lacrosse rallied from a
tough home loss on Tuesday with a convincing 17-6 home win over
Misericordia University. Christy Hild scored six times and Grace
Griffith added four goals and two assists to lead the Eastern attack.
The
Eagles scored a pair of early goals, but the Cougars tied the game with
a pair of unassisted tallies from Krista Shenk and Camila Hansen. Hild
then sparked a run of five straight Eastern goal with a heads up play on
a loose ball in front of the cage. Kendall Rood scored before and after
a pair from Griffith to put the Eagles up 7-2.
Hansen scored her
second of the day to pull the Cougars to within four, but the Eagles
scored twice in the final twenty seconds of the half to extend the lead
back to six. Hild scored the first in transition, and then Griffith
tallied after Katie Blaylock made a strong play on the draw and found
Griffith on the run in front of the cage.
Hild scored the first
three goals of the second half to increase the Eastern lead to nine and
put the game out of reach. Hild now has 50 points in her first season as
an Eagle. Kendall Rood finished with three goals and two assists. Allie
Fultz, Brittany Keith, Amelia McNamara, and Allie Gauthier each scored
single goals.
Lindsey Corbitt made three saves to earn the win.
The Eagles return to action with a critical MAC contest at Alvernia on
Tuesday.
