MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- Eastern University Baseball pounded out 18 hits
en route to a 22-0 win over Penn State Harrisburg to earn their second
straight win. Mike McNulty finished with four RBIs, and Kyle Kurdewan
allowed only three hits in six scoreless innings.
The Eagles
scored single runs in the first and second and added two more in the
third before breaking the game open with nine in the fourth inning.
McNulty drove in a pair with a single down the left field line, and the
Eagles used a disciplined eye at the plate to wear down the Lion's
starting pitcher.
The Eastern defense turned three double plays
behind Kurdewan and three relievers, and Joel Rios made a sharp play to
cut down a runner at the plate on a tough chopper to third when the game
was still in question in the third inning.
Head Coach Matt
Midkiff was pleased with his team's approach and the execution of his
four pitchers. He did note, that the team would have to step up their
game to another level for the next two games on the trip. The Eagles
take on Wesley tomorrow and a good Catholic University squad on
Thursday.
