ST. LOUIS, Mo.-- A day after Eastern University Volleyball's Maria
Horning crossed the 5,000 assist mark, teammate Courtney Reinhold scaled
the 2,000 career kills plateau as the Eagles won both of their matches
Saturday.
No. 4 Eastern University Volleyball completed the Washington University
Halloween Classic by topping Concordia University 25-15, 25-14, 25-17
and Hanover College 25-23, 25-13, 25-21.
With the wins, Eastern wrapped up a 30-2 regular season.
Pending confirmation from the NCAA records office, Reinhold is
believed to be the first player in NCAA Division III to record 2,000
career kills since the NCAA switched to the current 25-points-per-set
format.
Reinhold entered Saturday's matches with 1,977 kills. She scored 11
kills against Concordia in the first match and 21 against Hanover to put
her career mark at 2,009.
Eastern freshman Katrina Pisch posted outstanding numbers against
Concordia. She had a team-high 12 kills with no errors on 17 attempts,
giving her a hitting percentage of .706.
As a team, Eastern hit .379 against Concordia and .218 against Hanover.
The Eagles will host the Freedom Conference semifinals against Delaware Valley College on Wednesday.
