No. 5 Volleyball Cruises Past Misericordia

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.--Eastern University Volleyball improved to 21-1 after thumping conference opponent Misericordia University in three sets.

The Eagles defeated the Cougars 25-12, 25-10, 25-17 at home Wednesday evening.

Three Eagles achieved double-digit kills with Kearby Benak and Katrina Pisch scoring 10 kills and with Courtney Reinhold leading the way with 15 kills. Benak scored her 10 kills while playing in just the second and third sets. Pisch recorded a near-perfect hitting percentage of .833. Her 10 kills came in 12 attempts with no errors.

Maria Horning once again provided the impetus for the Eagles' attack, notching 37 assists into the stat book.

Libero Kelly Groff dug out 14 attacks to lead Eastern and also served three aces. She had momentum in her favor in the first set as she served the ball nine straight times before siding out.

As at team, Eastern recorded five blocks in the win.

Eastern carries its 14-game winning streak with them Friday as the team travels to Christopher Newport University. CNU, No. 8 nationally, eliminated Eastern in the NCAA tournament in five sets last season, but Eastern won the regular season match in four sets.
