Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Downs Neumann

Eastern University Field Hockey scored five first half goals en route to a convincing 7-0 non-conference win over Neumann University. Yvonne Herbster and Abby Wagner each scored a pair of goals in the victory.

As they did last Friday, the Eagles scored in the opening minutes of the game. Unlike Friday's dramatic overtime loss, the Eagles kept on the attack and tacked on additional goals throughout the first half.

Eastern had all the action early, and Kim Campbell opened the scoring in the 14th minute off a pass from Wagner. Five minutes later Hope Donnelly lifted a shot in at the near post from a tight angle to double the Eastern lead.

With the visiting Knights on the ropes, the Eastern attackers scored on another restart opportunity. Donnelly played a ball into the circle for Campbell and the senior forward zipped a pass across the face of the goal that Wagner tipped home for her first of the afternoon. Herbster scored her first of the day on a nice feed from Wagner with just over seven minutes to play in the period. The Eagles finished the half with a series of untimed penalty corners. They finally converted the third as Wagner redirected a Donnelly drive to for the 5-0 edge.

Before the break, Eastern had a 13-0 edge in shots and a 9-0 advantage in penalty corners. Herbster and Brittany Moyer scored goals early in the second half. Laura Ressler and Christin Sutterlein split time time in goal for the shutout.

Eastern returns to action Thursday with a home test against second ranked Messiah College.
