Ivy scored his third of the day on a Will Johnson pass with just over two minutes in the quarter and Napolitano found Chris Farrar on the crease just before the period ended. The Eagles held a 15-2 edge in shots and cleared the ball effectively. The fast start was exactly what Head Coach Brandon Childs was looking for from his young squad. He said, "We played well. We were good on face-offs, ground balls, and we got some good goals in our offense."

The offensive onslaught continued in the second as Eastern pushed to an 11-0 advantage with six goals in the middle five minutes of the period. After grabbing a 6-0 lead on David Darling's second of the day, the Eagles scored three more times in a 32-second span to push the lead to 9-0. Ivy started the burst with brilliant behind the back shot on a Napolitano pass. Matt Mandia then scored his first of the year on a transition goal on the ensuing face-off. Will Johnson earned the assist on the goal. Ron Johnson scored his first of the year on the next face-off. Eastern won six of seven face-offs in the period.

Joey Wilmot scored with just under seven minutes to play in the half, and Matt Colello scored his first of the year a minute and a half later.

Eastern scored the first six goals of the second half. Farrar scored three times, Darling picked up his third, Ivy scored his fifth, and Michael Hoffmeister also scored.

Aaron Benz record four saves before giving up a goal three and a half minutes into the final period. Dave Hoger and Brandon Schmidt shared the last eleven plus minutes in goal. Davey Jones and Dillard Brooks rounded out the scoring for the Eagles.

Eastern held a 55-15 edge in shots and controlled 51 ground balls to 29 for the hosts. In addition the Eagles were very effective in clearing attempts.
