Eastern University field hockey player Lindsay Moyer has dished out a pair of early-season assists. On Saturday afternoon, she delivered again. The senior All-American's assist to younger sister, Brittany Moyer proved to be enough as the Eagles squeaked by Franklin and Marshall 1-0.
The visiting Eagles put pressure on the Diplomats early and often in the first half, and they earned an 11-7 edge in shots. It was not until five minutes left in the first period that Lindsay Moyer's initial shot from the top of the circle was re-directed to the back of the cage by Brittany Moyer.
The second period was much of the same for the Eagles, but Franklin and Marshall's goalie, Naomi Stone was rock solid. Stone tallied nine saves in the second half, squelching any opportunities the visiting Eagles had of extending their lead.
Laura Ressler notched five saves in the first half and one in the second to pick up her second win of the season in goal.
The road tests continue for the Eagles as they return to Messiah College for a rematch of last year's Sweet Sixteen contest against the Falcons on Wednesday, September 9 at 4:00 PM.
