The Eastern University women's lacrosse team scored nine first half goals and held on to beat Immaculata University 16-3 for their fifth consecutive win. Grace Griffith led the Eagles with five goals and an assist. Katie Choquette scored a pair of goals and registered a game-high four assists.
The Eagles (12-4 9-1 PAC) entered today's game with the second seed and first-round bye in the PAC tournament locked up. Erin Fries opened the scoring for the Eagles in the fourth minute on a nice pass from Choquette. Liza O'Keefe doubled the advantage for the the Eagles two minutes later on a nice driving goal off the left side.
The Eagles continued to attack the cage with unassisted goals from Griffith and Choquette. Griffith scored her second of the game at the ten minute mark to lift the Eagles to a 5-0 lead. Fries picked up her second after a period of extended possession to increase the Eastern advantage to six.
Choquette finished a pretty pass from Griffith with 11:30 to play in the first. Linnea Davis came out of the back on the ensuing draw control and finished her first goal of the year off a nice pass from Katie Maguire. Maguire finished the first half scoring with a 8:25 on the clock with a quick-stick goal from Choquette.
The Eagles held a 16-4 edge in shots for the first period. The Eagles also held a commanding 16-7 edge in ground balls for the half. Lindsey Moosey led the Eagles with four ground balls on the afternoon.
Fries scored her third of the day to start the second half. O'Keefe picked up her second of the game in the third minute of the second half. Jess Field and Erin Reimel added single tallies before Immaculata's Clair Lichty scored the first goal of the day for the visitors.
The Eagles will have the week to continue to return to health as they await the results of Saturday's quarterfinal contests. The Eagles will take on the quarterfinal winner with the best regular-season record at Olson Field. That game will be on Tuesday if the Eastern men's lacrosse team secures a second seed with a win either tomorrow or Saturday.
