Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Wins Opener

put four players in double-figure scoring for the night to roll to a 78-54 win.

Going into the evening, the questions revolved around how well the youthful Eagles would respond to their first collegiate game. Tyrik Tucker and Martin Soaries gave a pretty good answer to that question as they left their marks on the game. Tucker led the way with 16 points and nine boards. The 6'5 forward from New York also left a mark with spectacular shot blocking. Soaries finished with ten points and three steals despite playing just 20 minutes.

Eastern Associate Head Coach Ryan Livingston commented about his team's effort saying, "We struggled a little bit early to find rhythm, but we broke the game open with a really good defensive stretch to close out the first half. When we play good defense, our offense rhythm improves and we just get better. Though we have a lot to work on, we saw a lot of encouraging things today"

Junior Guard Jason Reels led Eastern with 16 points on ten shots from the field. Don Kaiser also finished in double figures for the Eagles. Eleven different Eastern players scored in the win.

Eastern begins its home season on Tuesday night with a non-conference game against Messiah College.
