Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Scores Late to Tie at King's

at King's College. The Eagles held a 22-8 advantage in shots for the game, but needed the late game heroics to earn the important tie.

The host Monarchs jumped to an early lead with a 15th minute goal from Mark Timko. The visiting Eagles responded with frerocious pressure throughout remainder of the contest, but numerous chances in the first half and early in the second half slid just wide or high.

As time elapsed, the Eastern team continued to commit players into the attack and replace defensive players with attackers. That pressure resulted in a series of chances in the waning minutes. A corner kick with just over three minutes to play looked as though  it might provide the game-tying goal, but Monarch goalkeeper Tim Kelly snared a Braden Gross missile in the bottom right corner of the net. That save looked as though it was going to stand as a microcosm for the entire Eastern match, but the Eagles earned another corner just moments later.

Desperate to push the pace of the game. the visitors put the  ball in play quickly on the right flank. Ryan Castle whipped a ball into a very crowded box. After several deflections, Terry Fry bumped the loose ball into Raffle's path, and the junior pushed it across the line for the equalizer.

Eastern carried much of the play in overtime, but neither team could scratch for the game-winner. Michael Dorsch made three saves in goal for the Eagles, Kelly made seven stops in the King's net. King's record now stands at 10-1-1.

The Eagles (5-4-1,0-0-1)  return to action Wednesday with a 4:00 home game against Ursinus College.
