Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Big Second Half Helps Men to Win at Marywood

Sophomore guard Jason Reels registered a season high 29 points on 12 of 15 shooting to help the Eagles (7-8, 4-3) to a convincing 79-70 win at Marywood.

The Pacers started the game with the intention of stretching each possession and hitting a high percentage from the floor. The strategy worked early as Josh Pena connected for 16 first half points and Marywood hit five of twelve from beyond the arc to give the hosts a 31-30 lead at the break.

Marywood stretched that lead to eight early in the half until Matt Flanagan hit four straight shots for the Eagles to close the gap. Flanagan finished the night with 16 points on three three-pointers. The game remained tight through the middle portion of the second half until Matt Malloy and Reels began to take over the game. Malloy proved unstoppable inside as he scored 11 points on just four shots, and Reels connected on four of five from behind the arc to help the Eagles pull out to a twelve point lead. The Eagles shot a stunning 76% from the field for the second half.

With their performances this evening, both Reels and Flanagan move into double figure averages for the year. More importantly, the Eagles won their third straight game and their fourth in their last five to move back into the thick of the PAC Playoff picture.

Eastern returns to action at Centenary on Saturday at 1:00 pm. That game can be heard live on the PAC website.
