Eastern University Women's Soccer collected a second consecutive 7-0 win at home. Ashley Hackman and Jill Direnzo each scored a pair of goals, and Chrissy West picked up a goal and two assists in the win.
Hackman opened the scoring when she finished a serve from West in tight in the first minute of the match. The 2006 All Mid-Atlantic selection slid the ball into the bottom corner of the net after a near post run. In the tenth minute of the match, West turned to finishing as Corie Brant played an early ball across the face that West tucked home for her fifth of the year.Â
Moments later, it looked as though the Eagles had increased the advantage to 3-0 on a nice restart, but the referee deemed that DiRenzo had entered into a an offside position before Hackman had played her in. In the 27th minute, DiRenzo put away her seventh of the year on a ball slotted back from Hackman off the left side. DiRenzo got her second of the match on a one-time finish of a great early ball from Cheryl Palevo. The assist is the first collegiate point for the Palevo.
The Eagles led 4-0 going into the break, but Ashleigh Johnson made 10 of her 13 saves in the opening half including a couple on close range shots to keep the Eagles in check.
Hackman scored her fourth goal of the year in the 58th minute after a run from a late position put her one-on-one with Johnson on the end of a nice bending ball from Brant. Just 11 seconds later, Nicole Grindle tucked home her fourth of the year on a well-weighted pass from West. Kara Neef finished the scoring for the Eagles in the 60th minute on a run out of the back and a solid finish.
Amber Cummins started in goal for the Eagles and shared the shutout with Amanda Daveler and Amanda Smith.Â
The Eagles, now 3-0 in the PAC and 5-2 overall, will travel to Wilkes University for a 4:00 on Wednesday.
