A two-run single from Karen Hertzog keyed a four run tenth to allow the fifth seeded Eagles to advance to the PAC Championship tournament this weekend. Ashley Lewis threw ten tough innings to earn the win.
After the Eagles couldn't make anything of a one-out single from Amanda Daveler in the first, the Cavaliers generated an unearned run on a Kristie Sandefur double. Eastern put another runner on in the second, but couldn't generate the tying run. Cabrini's Kerri-Ann McNeil ripped a two-out solo shot to left in the second to give the hosts a 2-0 advantage.
The Eagle's remained down two until the top of the fourth. Hertzog hit her second home-run of the season to cut the lead in half and spark an Eastern rally. Lewis knocked her second single of the game to left and scored on a Raychel Weis double.
Cabrini retook the lead in the bottom of the fifth with a manufactured run, and held the lead until the top of the seventh. In a season where the breaks have seemed to go the wrong way for the Eastern squad, the Eagles made their own when aggressive baserunning from Weis allowed her to score on an error from first base.
The game remained tied until the top of the tenth. The Eagles started the tenth with Steph Weaver on second base and the top of the order up. Alissa Brubaker jump-started the rally with a base on balls, and Amanda Daveler moved the runners along with a bunt to the right side. Cabrini elected to walk Jacey Bray, who was robbed of a home run earlier in the game by a great catch in left, to load the bases. Bray entered the day with three career home-runs agaisnt Cabrini, and the Cavaliers decided to take their chances with Hertzog. Hertzog drove in her 21st and 22nd RBI of the year to give the Eagles a 5-3 lead. Bray and Hertzog then scored on a hit by Steph Okeson.
Lewis pitched her way through the tenth without allowing a run to allow the Eagles to advance to the PAC Championship Tournament this weekend.
