Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Emerges with Important PAC win

In a year with several teams in contention in the league, the margin for error in preserving seeding for the PAC playoffs is very slender. The Eagles also knew that the Mighty Macs, who finished 6th last fall, needed a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Eastern struggled early against the visitors very defensive alignment, but were able to open the game with three second half goals on the way to their ninth win of the year. The win sets up a critical match this Saturday night with Cabrini. Junior midifelder Ryan Castle made his first goal of the year an important one, as he finished a cross from Dann DeLorenzo in the 62nd minute to open up the game.

After the Eagles scored, the visitors had to leave their shell, and the favored Eastern squad began to find opportunities. in the 86th minute, Terry Fry took advantage of one of those chances when he raced on to an Aaron Tritch through ball for his first goal of the year. The sophomore midfielder took a liking to the goal scoring thing and buried his second of the year less than three minutes later on a cross from Luke McLaughlin.

Noah Bartelt and Michael Dorsch split the shutout in goal for the Eagles. Eastern and Cabrini play at Cabrini at 6:30 Saturday night.
