Kevin Murray brings more than 25 years of coaching experience and a proven track record of building winning programs, developing high-level talent, and mentoring student-athletes at every level of the game.
Murray joins Eastern following a successful two-year stint at Delaware Valley University, where he helped lead the Aggies to the 2024-25 MAC Freedom Championship. Prior to Delaware Valley, he spent five seasons as Associate Head Coach at Cabrini University, playing an instrumental role in the program’s success and player development.
Before entering the collegiate ranks, Murray established himself as one of the region’s premier high school coaches during more than a decade at Middletown High School and Red Lion Christian Academy in Delaware.
As Head Coach at Red Lion Christian Academy, Murray transformed the program into one of the state’s elite teams. In just his second season, he guided the Lions to a Diamond State Conference Championship and was named the 2017-18 Diamond State Conference Coach of the Year. Under his leadership, Red Lion reached the state tournament in three of four seasons, produced the 2017-18 Conference Player of the Year, and saw eight players earn All-Conference honors. His success earned him the honor of serving as Head Coach for the prestigious Delaware Blue-Gold All-Star Basketball Game.
Beyond the high school and collegiate levels, Murray has spent more than 15 years coaching AAU and travel basketball, earning a reputation as one of the area’s top developers of elite guards. Through his leadership, mentorship, and skill development, he has helped numerous student-athletes earn Division I scholarships and pursue professional careers.
Players coached and trained by Murray have gone on to compete at nationally recognized programs including Villanova, Syracuse, Penn State, Oregon, Saint Joseph’s, Temple, UNLV, South Carolina, the University of Delaware, Delaware State, and Saint Peter’s, among others. His impact extends beyond the collegiate level, with former players reaching the professional ranks in the NBA, NFL, and international basketball, including organizations such as the Atlanta Hawks, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors, and Green Bay Packers.
A graduate of Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Murray continued his playing career at California University of Pennsylvania before finishing at Penn State Abington (formerly Ogontz)
In addition to his collegiate coaching responsibilities, Murray is the Owner and Director of Operations of Role Model Elite Basketball, one of the region’s premier basketball development and AAU organizations.
